Dale La Pau is a family business, bringing you grandma's secret traditional recipes from Minang, Indonesia. Our specialty is Rendang! Our signature Rendang is made from scratch in our kitchen in Camberwell, using the traditional process of combining many different spice, herbs, chili and coconut cream, cooked slowly and delicately for up to 6 hours until it is dry, dark and very rich in flavour. We visited this place after a long time and I left feeling content like every other time! We ordered the rice bowl- one with fried chicken and other with beef rendang. My partner felt that beef rendang wasn’t as rich as it used to be but the accompanying sauce and veggie dish were delicious. We also noticed that the prices for the rice plus 2 protein dish have increased and would have to try it next time to see if the 27 dollar price tag on it is justifiable or not.

I have travelled all over Melbourne searching for the best Minang and Padang Indonesian food and have found some brilliant places to eat including Salero Kito and Tambo Ciek but head and shoulders above the rest is Dale La Pau. This was the most delicious rendang, jackfruit curry and sambal nasi I have eaten. The spices were fragrant, layered and had the right amount of aroma and kick and the meat was melt in your mouth tender. The staff were lovely and wait time was very fast. 10/10 food, very much looking forward to returning.

Shamed the food in here! For sure will be back and recommend. You can feel the authenticity from the dishes, big serving in entree’s to mains. Cozy place and staffs are superb!

The best place for indonesian minang food . A bit high price but big portions and the taste is the ultimate in Vic. Restaurant feel. Roundtable. Place fit around 30people. Can get full easy on lunch or dinner time.

The food was excellent, bursting with flavour. The jackfruit rendang was great as a vegetarian option, and the shakshuka was equally delicious. However, the prices are slightly higher, especially for the vegetarian option, where the majority of the dish consists of plain salad (with chips) with a small quantity of rendang. It might be more worthwhile to order the rendang separately rather than as part of a combo. Nonetheless, the food was very tasty! The restaurant is located in a great area and is definitely worth a visit if you're in the vicinity.

This place live up to its's name "the rendang specialist". Authentic padang (North part of Sumatra) food come in form of Nasi Ramas that consist if Rice, vegies curry, spicy eggplant and 2 meats choice. All the food delicious and the service was fast and efficient. Will keep coming back.

They are a little family business, specializing in Indonesian Minang cuisine and street food. They’re open for breakfast and lunch with delivery options available. ❤️: Their lunch is a more casual affair with Minang style street food and some modern innovations (I really wanted the durian and pandan tiramisu, but they no longer had it when I visited!). Love a good Sop Kambing—mutton soup—perfect with crispy emping, aka bitternut crackers. Also tried out their Nasi Ramas as well, you can choose your own combination of meat/vegetarian menus to go with as well!

Authentic Indonesian restaurant which makes super delicious rendang. We ordered the slow cooked ribs with shredded rendang and it brought us back to Indonesia. Great little place to dine in if you're in the area.

Phenomenal food, so flavourful and nourishing. Great vegetarian options - the jackfruit rendang is beautiful. My partner had the beef and likewise loved it. Will definitely be back here!!! I can see some reviews complaining about the price. I personally think it's priced very reasonably for the quality of food. If you're still hungry, the entrees were delicious and the desserts looked enticing. Asian food is always undervalued.. you wouldn't hesitate to pay that price for Italian or modern Australian at this quality 🤷🏾‍♀️

May 2021 at Dale La Pau (Dale's restaurant) located on Camberwell Road, Camberwell. It is an Indonesian Fusion Cafe & Minang Cuisine Restaurant owned by Stuart and his wife (and talented chef) Intan. Sampled the Nasi Ramas today. It is spicy fragrant and absolutely delicious. Thursday, 27th May:  Back again for lunch before a 7-day lockdown in the state of Victoria, Australia. The Nasi Goreng Rendang (Minang style fried rice cooked with Rendang gravy and vegetables, served with thin omelette, bitternut crackers, pickles and Beef Rendang) is absolutely delicious. A well balanced, very tasty and fragrant dish. The 'Minangs' sure can cook 👍👍 New menu: I would also like to mention that the new and beautifully illustrated menu is great. It makes the whole dining experience more pleasurable when you can see what each dish contains and looks like. Lunch (lunch menu) till 3pm. Dinner (dinner menu) from 5pm onwards. Restaurant is closed on Mondays. Do drop by and say 'hello' to Stuart and Intan if you are in the neighbourhood. Highly recommended. 15th July: Lunch at Dale La Pau just before another snap 5th lockdown in the state of Victoria as at midnight tonight.

Believe the hype. Yes on so many levels but note it is spicier than normal Their rendang is on point as one would expect from a rendang specialist but their others dishes are equally tasty, spicy and cooked well. Highly recommend

I ordered the Nasi Ramas at Dale Lapau that was incredibly close in taste to the original dish I grew up with in Bukittinggi. I felt like at home. From yummy rendang, curry based veggies, green chilly, chicken curry, all mixed complemented the other components of the dish perfectly. It’s big portion I could share with my daughter🤣. On top of that, I enjoyed the cosy setting made.

Met a friend for breakfast on a Sunday morning. They have a deal running where you get breakfast AND a cup of tea/coffee/juice AND a sweet (fruit or cake) for TWENTY DOLLARS. After confirming that we’d read the menu correctly and the deal still applied on a Sunday (7 days a week!), we ordered with glee. I got the beef rendang shakshuka which was fabulous - love the roti it comes with. Choc brownie afterwards was also excellent.

Dined here with a friend after seeing good reviews on Google. The rendang was fantastic, especially if you eat with roti. We also had soto ayam. We finished off our meal with durian sticky rice, which was really good too. Very happy with the visit.

Delicious authentic Indonesian Minang cuisine packed with spicy delicious flavour. Highly recommended. They also have some Vegan rendang options which are delicious. I had the Jackfruit Rendang and it was delicious.

Delicious Indonesian food that does not compromise its authenticity for the sake of local tastes. Especially like the beef rendang and ayam bakar. But beware, there is no lack of spiciness in some of their dishes/condiments (sambal and satay comes to mind)!

Went here for brunch. Coffee was so good. We ordered chicken congee and nasi uduk. Both tasty and finished them all in minutes. There is free parking spots behind the block. The place is 30 mins drive from where we live in city. We would come often if this place is closer to our place :) highly recommended!

We ordered Rendang Special. I can say it's more expensive than the other Indonesian restaurant. But the taste is more delicious. The portion is really fullfilling. And we don't use that kind of salad to eat rendang in Indonesia. But the combination between rendang and salad (feta cheese + lemon) unexpectedly is perfect.

Authentic Indonesian rendang and Padang food. They also do delicious Indonesian traditional breakfast and variety of baked eggs and toasties. Loved the chicken congee and baked eggs with rendang shaksuka!

The food here is so good!! The best rendang I've ever had and the chili on the side they provide is generous and a good level of heat. Would definitely recommend this place.

They are indeed the rendang specialist! My husband was very satisfied and so was I. He had Nasi Ramas Padang with beef rendang in it and I had Mi Pangsit Rendang Ayam. Will definitely go back here 😍
