Went for dinner on a Sunday night and was amazed by how authentic the flavour was. As a Balinese that have been away for 6 years, the babi guling brought me back home! Mie goreng was also as good. Price was reasonable and definitely will be back to try the matchas.

Excellent restaurant. The food is exceptional and some of the most friendly service you could imagine. I'm a fatty so any sort of meat on a stick is like gold to me, but the pork skewers here are the best I've ever eaten hands down. Really reasonable prices too considering the quality of the food and service. By the way a robot brings your food to you, that's cool as.

Kata Kita serves up authentic Indonesian flavors that truly take you back to Bali! Their $49 per person feed me menu is a fantastic deal, featuring two smaller dishes or greens, two larger options like rice or noodles, and two refreshing drinks. The bartenders whip up some seriously impressive cocktails that perfectly complement the meal. The service is top-notch, with friendly waitstaff who make you feel right at home. As an Indonesian, I can confidently say this place captures the essence of our cuisine beautifully!

Food is always 10/10 here and don’t forget the banana pudding matcha 👌👌 I wish you could buy the pudding as a dessert on its own, it’s that good!

My best friend and I had dinner here and absolutely loved it! We were both craving good simple mie goreng noodles and delicious proteins and that’s exactly what we got. Smoked king fish gohu was tasty and light, the chicken sate skewers were so perfectly cooked. I could have had 20 racks of the twice cooked pork ribs - also perfectly cooked. We ended up getting two servings of the noodles because we enjoyed them so much. The mocktail drinks were fun! I’ve never yakult in a drink before which was so nice. Staff were super lovely, the place itself is pretty and is across the street from Melbourne central. Overall, very happy and keen to go back again and again.

If you're looking for a cozy spot with a welcoming atmosphere, this restaurant is a must-visit! The service is wonderful—staff are friendly, and the food was delivered promptly. It’s perfect whether you’re going out for a group gathering or a more intimate date night. The highlight of the meal was the noodles—absolutely amazing! Each bite was perfectly balanced in flavor, and somehow it got better with every bite. To top it off, the Pandan cheesecake was a real treat—creamy, smooth, and mouthwateringly delicious. Paired with a refreshing drink, it was the perfect end to a fantastic meal. Highly recommend!

What a wonderful birthday dinner! Our family always enjoyed the food at sister restaurant YOI and finally we made the hour & a bit trip to try Kata Kita. Balinese cuisine has always been a family fave and we weren’t disappointed with the dishes ordered. The salted egg cereal prawns were exquisitely fresh and the salted egg combination of cereal & curry leaves brings this dish to the fore. Babi Guling (roast pork) was well roasted & moist. Omelette Egg Tofu is a must try - you could just eat this dish on it’s own. Stir fry Bean sprouts with garlic was a nice compliment to the hot steaming rice. Dessert: you cannot leave the restaurant without trying their Pandan Mille Crepe - not even going to bother talking about it - just go try it! Drinks : Pelangi mocktail was very refreshing. Thank you KK & team for an awesome birthday meal.

One of my favorite spots in Melbourne! Their desserts are a must-try, I absolutely loved the Banana Pudding Matcha and Kinako Matcha, so creamy and balanced. If you have a sweet tooth, the Pandan Matcha Tiramisu will definitely be your favorite. We also ordered the Babi Guling, the best in Melbourne! The flavors are authentic, the skin is perfectly crispy, and it comes with Nasi Bali that’s super tasty and in generous portions. Highly recommend this place if you’re craving proper Balinese food with unique matcha desserts. Can’t wait to come back!

Had an awesome time at Kata Kita! The food was seriously amazing, and the service was just as great—super friendly and welcoming. The place has a nice, modern but simple vibe that makes you feel right at home. Highly recommend trying the DG Mille Crepes—they were absolutely delicious! If you’re in Melbourne and feel like treating yourself to some tasty Indonesian food, this spot is definitely worth checking out.

The roasted pork belly ($28) was delicious, and I liked that it wasn’t overly fatty. That said, it was far too spicy for me, and let’s just say I paid for it later after lunch. 🌶️🥵 The mie goreng ($19.50) was tasty, but nothing particularly memorable. The pork skewers ($18.50) felt a bit pricey, but they turned out better than I expected—though they still weren’t especially juicy or flavourful. The mochi kinako matcha ($8.50) was decent, but the matcha flavour didn’t really come through, and the portion size was on the small side. I finished it in a few sips.

And while it didn’t fully replicate the messy, bustling version I grew up with… it came close enough to make my heart pause a little. 🍖 Nasi Campur Kalimantan — the pork belly was juicy, the char siu was smoky-sweet, the egg was beautifully braised, and the rice soaked everything up nicely. The sambal was sharp, the pickles tangy. It’s not exactly like what I’d get back home, but it had that familiar echo. 🍳 Nasi Goreng — my friend’s dish, but I definitely stole bites. Smoky, savory, with a nice wok hei that clings to the rice. The fried egg on top? Runny and golden. Loved the colorful krupuk too — nostalgia in every crunch. And oh — the interior? Gorgeous. Soft light, wooden textures, hanging greens, and that playful neon high-five glowing in the back. The space feels relaxed and polished, like someone took a traditional warung and gave it a Pinterest refresh 🌾✨ ⴵ 𝗪𝗮𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲: Around 10–15 mins 𐀪 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗱: Not too loud, not too empty — just right for good convo ☼ 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱: Late afternoon ‎𐂐 𝗢𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿: Nasi Campur Kalimantan, Nasi Goreng 𝗪𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗜 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻? I really enjoyed the food here. It was flavorful and satisfying, and the space had a nice, cozy atmosphere. The portions were a bit small for the price, but the taste made up for it. After trying several underwhelming meals that day, Katakita definitely saved my trip. Would happily return!

I think Kata Kita Resto is one of the best places for Indonesian food in Melbourne! It’s located conveniently in the CBD, and the restaurant has a spacious, comfortable setting, great for groups or casual dining. The food is delicious and really hits the spot, especially if you’re missing authentic Indonesian flavors. Everything tasted just like home! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, very warm and welcoming, just like the typical Indonesian hospitality. Their kindness really made the experience even better. Highly recommended

We stumbled across and decided to go to Kata Kita because the cue for Kikanbo next door was massive. Kata Kita looked full on a Saturday but had us seated in 10 minutes. We ordered the big portion of Babi Guling, Kang kung, Sate ayam and sate Babi. I'm not from Melbourne so I wasn't expecting anything fancy. We wanted to order the big share portion of Duck but it was out so that's why we went with the Babi Guling. From the meat, Sambal Mata, Kua and crackling everything was on point. The vegetable Urap with beans, chilli and onions and Sambal gave the dish a beautiful multi layered flavour profile. I'm Indo so I have had Babi Guling in Indonesia many different times so this one was impressive. The Sate ayam was on a metal skewer and thick cut but cooked to perfection. Very nice balance of sweetness, spice, smoke from the charcoal with just the right amount of salt. Definitely an interesting take on Sate ayam. The Kang Kung was amazing, you can't eat Babi Guling without having Kang kung with it. Better than Kang kung I've had in Indo. I was so hungry and curious I decided to order the Sate Babi as well. Sate Babi to get just right is pretty difficult. Can't be too dry or too thin, can't be undercooked either. The balance of spices has to be just right especially for Balinese style sate Babi. They have to have a nice balance of fat and meat. These were perfect, soft and juicy with just the right amount of fat. The Bumbu was perfectly balanced. Everything we ordered was perfect, I'm fussy with my food and I couldn't fault anything. We tried a lot of Indonesian and other Asian places in Melbourne but this one surprised me. I loved the atmosphere and the direction they went with their menu. Not just another Indo restaurant but a vibe.

This place went viral for their banana pudding matcha. Their matcha is high quality and I actually love their mochi milk matcha! This time i went back to try the food. Tried the two recommended mains - squid ink rice and babi guling. Both are very yum, perfect seasoning balance, lots of little elements that make the dishes elevated. Pandan matcha tiramisu was yum too didnt expect that combo. Highly recommend

I absolutely loved my experience at Kata Kita – Matcha Kita Edition! As an Indonesian, I always miss Indo food, and this place really nails the Indo-fusion style. I started with the Strawberry Yogurt Matcha, which was refreshing and delicious (my partner said it was “goddamn good!”). The Hojicha Latte was the perfect comfort drink for a winter day. For starters, the Salted Egg Chicken Bao and Pork Grilled Skewers were both flavourful and well-balanced. My mains were the highlight – the Babi Guling and the Nasi Lemak (crispy chicken with coconut rice) – both cooked perfectly and packed with authentic flavour. To finish, the Pandan Cheese Basque Cake was amazing – rich, fragrant, and a unique twist I’ve never had before. Great atmosphere, friendly service, and food that truly reminds me of home with a modern touch. Definitely recommend!
