They say this is one of the best Indonesian 🇮🇩 restaurants in Sydney and probably Australia. Well the expectation and hype truly paid off as the food was pretty tasty. Heard there usually is a line to eat in the restaurant but when we came we didn’t have to wait. The food portions is pretty big and it was full of flavour. Service is quick and efficient and everyone of the dishes looked real presentable and yummy 😋

I heard there's usually a wait, but I visited around 5 p.m. and got in without any trouble. There were many menu options, so I had a hard time deciding what to eat. All the food was delicious, though it felt a bit salty for me since I usually don’t eat salty food. Still, I was happy to be able to try Indonesian cuisine. The chicken dish, in particular, was spicy but very tasty. It’s not a fancy restaurant, but it’s a good place to casually try Indonesian food.

Best Indonesian rendang and curry sauce I ever had! Very friendly service and clean environment.

Tasty Indonesian restaurant! Serving sizes were decent and actually had a lot of protein. Can’t fault the service, it was quick and efficient. They will help explain the menu if you need.

I’ve tried their Nasi Goreng Balado, Nasi Ayam Bakar, Lontong Sayur, and Cendol. They all taste good just like the food in Indonesia. My favourite from Medan Ciak is their Nasi Goreng Balado. Their Lontong Sayur is tasty just like the one I always eat back home. I looove their potato chips so much. The broth/soup is also very good. I like their cendol because I’ve been to 3 Indonesian Restaurant in Sydney and only Medan Ciak has this kind of cendol. I think this place is one of the best Medan food restaurant in Sydney ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Food is so good I came back twice during my 1 week visit in Sydney! The ayam bakar was the highlight for me, cooked perfectly, with that delicious charcoal flavor you’d expect!

Whenever I am in Sydney, more often than not, I would want to have a meal here. Long queues today at 1pm on a Sunday. Tried something different this time. Nasi Kapau Ikan Gembung (rice with fried yellowtail). Totally awesome (although it would have been excellent if the fish were freshly fried) but not unexpected as this is nasi padang stylewhere dishes are pre-cooked already. The sambal chilli were on-point. Will be back again to try other dishes I spied other tables eating 🤭

Medan Ciak is a hidden gem for authentic Indonesian cuisine. I tried the Ayam Bakar and Nasi Padang, and both dishes were bursting with rich, traditional flavors. The grilled chicken was perfectly marinated and tender, and the Padang spread was generous and delicious. Friendly service and great value—definitely worth a visit for anyone craving real Indonesian food!

This restaurant has consistently been the best in town and remains my absolute favorite! The food evokes such comforting memories of home. It was the first place I visited when I landed in Sydney back in 2018, and it continues to be a cherished spot to this day!

Located in the bustling Sydney CBD area, this restaurant offers delectable Indonesian cuisine that will tantalize your taste buds. While the restaurant tends to get busy, the waiting time is usually reasonable. The menu features a variety of mouthwatering dishes, and you can also choose from the enticing dishes on display. Additionally, self-service water is available. If you plan to pay electronically, please note that there will be an additional surcharge. However, if you opt for cash payment, you can enjoy an extra 5% discount. The staff members are incredibly friendly and accommodating, despite the bustling environment. Please be aware that the restrooms are located in the building's basement.

Excellent Indonesian food. The sambal was amazing, not too sweet and not too salty, just right. The beef was so tender. The bbq chicken was great.

There was a queue when i arrived, so i thought that was a good sign. The queue moved very quickly and was given my menu whilst i waited for a table. Helps speed everything up. I order a Nasi Goreng Kampoeng. Unfortunately, i waited nearly half hour for my meal whilst new tables were already eating. When my meal did arrive it was bursting with flavours and the chilli sauce was hot and tasty.

I visited this place a few weeks ago after seeing the hype on social media, and to my surprise, it exceeded all expectations. Even though the restaurant was quite busy, the service was impressively professional. The staff were warm, welcoming, and constantly smiling, despite the full house of customers. I returned yesterday and was pleased to see that the level of service was just as outstanding. The food was excellent once again. It’s no wonder this place is always packed — they have an incredible team of servers and, without a doubt, one of the best cooks in town. As someone visiting from out of town, I was genuinely amazed that they remembered what I ordered weeks ago. That level of attention to detail is truly remarkable. Highly recommend giving this place a try!

The food is great. The flavour of the ayam bakar come by the sweetness of the sauce, and the smoky grilled taste is match making. Thumb ups.

Most consistent Indonesian food in Sydney. The OG medan ciak, the institution of padang food in Sydney.

As someone that homesick of Indonesian cuisine, I couldn't wait to dive into these three mouthwatering dishes! 1st Indomie Goreng: this isn’t your average instant noodle! They took two packs of Indomie, gave them a fabulous stir-fry twist. 2nd Nasi Campur Babi: Rice packed with a variety of delicious pork options. 3rd Kwetiaw Goreng: I asked for it spicy, and did it deliver! a spicy kick, It was the real deal! Each dish took me back home and left me craving more! Jangan lupa teh botol!

I felt like I was back in Indonesia the food was perfect and completely authentic! My wife whom is from Padang saw it online and wanted to try it. It was her birthday and I am glad we did. The price was not too bad. We WILL most definitely go back...I'm craving it right now.

I had this Indonesian restaurant saved on my list, and it was the first place we decided to try after arriving in Sydney. The food was fantastic, offering an authentic taste that reminded me of meals back home. The best part was having to eat with our hands, which made the food more tastier. The staff were very accommodating, providing gloves and wet hand wipes, which made the whole experience more enjoyable. The meal was hearty and satisfying, leaving us completely full. Overall, it was definitely worth trying, and I’d highly recommend it for anyone craving Indonesian cuisine.

First time eating Indonesian food and I enjoyed it. It is similar but not the same to Malaysian food. The standout is the banana leaf wrapped coconut rice dish and the pandan rice cakes. Very unique and delicious. Very busy place and clean decor. Would come again.

17/8/24 - 5 stars Probably one of the best Indonesian restaurants in the city. Authentic flavours and good value for money. Been a while since I last came back, but, my Indonesian friend suggested it and I'm glad we did. Nasi Kuning Komplit Flavour: S+, 8.5/10. Coconut rice with a small serving of all the favourite accompaniments Texture: S, 8/10. Liked the variety though my grilled chicken was a bit chewy Value: A, 7/10. $24 is not too bad Nasi Prang Ayam Kreme: S, 8/10. Not a huge fan of this style of fried chicken but the dish was quite nice and filling for $24. Lontong Sayur Flavour: SS, 9/10. Recommended Medan dish by my friend and certainly was excellent. Rich coconut curry broth. Texture: SS, 9/10. Rice cake (lontong) and accompanying veg/meat were well done Value: S+, 8.5/10. $20 Cho Mie: S, 8/10. $19 for a solid dry noodle dish

Wow... Not many words could describe how great this restaurant is. A quiet indonesian restaurant on the corner of sussex street that serves incredible Indonesian food. They have a small menu but so many combinations like nasi ayam with any meat or different types of rice. I ordered nasi ayam with pork and the crackling + fried rice combination was incredible. If only the portion sizes were bigger !!! (Im not saying they're small thoguht haha) They were pretty quick with only 8 minutes and 43 seconds wait time from ordering. Prices range from 16 ~ 25 per dish and theyre pretty satisfactory. Great place would definitely come again!

This Indonesian restaurant is truly amazing! 💕 The food is delicious, and the prices are reasonable. The best part is the attentive service from the staff. The only downside is that the seating space is a bit small, but I still highly recommend it! 💦
