We enjoyed both dine in and takeaway at Nelayan Hawthorn. The food in the bain-marie was delicious. From the menu, so far we’ve tried the batagor, chicken noodles, chicken satay, chicken Taliwang, fried catfish, fried rice, ox tail soup, siomay, soto (beef or chicken soup). Most are delicious, except the batagor was too crispy. The snacks or cakes near the cashier are also good to try for entree or dessert. If you’re gonna get takeaways, need to tell the staff to separate chilli from the chicken.

Reminded me of the food I had in Jakarta! Chicken was so tender, kwei tiau was so garlicky and delicious. Sambal fragrant!

The flavors are rich and authentic, portions are generous, and the sambal packs just the right heat! The staff is warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere is cozy, perfect for family gatherings or casual meals. Highly recommended if you're craving real Indonesian food in a buffet setting. I’m a regular customer for years here at glen ferrie and in the city but recently I witnessed the change. The price increase I understand the reason and I respect that but the quantity also reduced dramatically, so now I’m not sure if is worth it anymore. I want you to notice my review and make your choice and I’m sure I’m not the only one who support you and feel the same way as me. By the way chefs, your food is always better compare to the city!

The food was absolutely delicious! Generous portions and very satisfying. Ordering was simple and hassle-free. Everything tasted fresh and well-seasoned, you can tell they use quality ingredients. Highly recommended if you're looking for great food with no fuss!

Despite the 25 minute drive for us we absolutely love coming here for a quick feed. The service is always so nice here. The portions are generous and the food is undeniable authentic Indonesian. Our usually order is hot dishes from the Bain Marie. Highly recommend the beef rendang here - consistently good. This is what I always crave. Note - no weekend surcharge. Public holiday surcharge.

Nelayan Glenferrie is my go-to place when it comes to lunch or dinner, especially during my past 2 years living around this area when I did my postgraduate studies at Swinburne. I remember having meals here 2-3x a week then. Now that I have moved away after my graduation, I still visit this place occasionally when I am around. The food options, especially the combination rice, are always varied and tasty. Not to mention that they are served suoer quickly, which really helps when you are short in time. Finally, there are always plenty of non-spicy options as well for those with low tolerance to spicy foods. Highly recommended.

We have been visiting this restaurant for more than 10 years. We even were a regular at their old store on Glenferrie road. Their food is always tasty with a wide range of choices in the bain marie each day and a great selection of dishes from the menu. Give it a try and it may become your regular eating place too.

Nelayan Indonesian Restaurant is a true gem! The food is authentic, Halal, full of rich flavors, and beautifully presented. The staff are warm and welcoming, creating a cozy atmosphere. Highly recommended for anyo ne craving genuine Indonesian cuisine!

First trip to Melbourne! Had lunch here with my family. Food was excellent and tasty, big portion and it was a hearty meal! It was very nice ambience, easy to find from where we took our tram. The service also very fast, the waiter was very welcoming to us, newcomers!

Visited Nelayan for lunch. The lady serving our food is very nice and polite. Ordered nasi kuning with mackerel fish and sayur lodeh, and also a portion of siomay. Really loved my nasi campur, tasted perfect! For the siomay it's actually good, but unfortunately a bit too salty. Will come back again if we visit Glenferrie again.

I swear Nelayan's Hawthorn is so much better, more authentic, more flavourful compare to Nelayan's Swanston street. They have a lot of Nasi Warteg style selection. The best nasi warteg in my opinion. Portion is big, price is great 👍

Wonderful Indonesian cuisine restaurant to eat,I came from Canberra to try Indonesian Restaurants and its had amazing and authentic taste, friendly service and the place was clean👍👍👍👍👍

Good portion and good taste, authenthic Indonesian. I got mine ( choose your own ) for like 13$ and very full. If you like sambal you can take as much as you want. My partner get bakmi ayam also very good. We are happy customer!
