I'm so glad I brought my kid to Pondok Rempah! As an Ex Indonesian living here.I want him to stay connected to his roots and enjoy the authentic flavors of my home. I was a bit worried he'd be hesitant, but his reactions were priceless! 😅 The food here is amazing, and the ambiance is so cozy and nostalgic. The music, including Melly Guslow's "Jika", made me feel like I was back home. I'm so grateful for the authentic Indonesian cuisine here. Please keep doing what you're doing - the authenticity is what makes this place special. I've had enough of Indonesian fusion food, and it's refreshing to see a restaurant stay true to its roots. 👏👏 Well done, Pondok Rempah! You've made my evening, and I look forward to coming back with my kid again soon!

I was seriously craving nasi lemak, so I looked it up and came across this place. I saw a review from an Indonesian person saying it was the best nasi lemak, so I had to give it a go And wow…🤩 the moment I took my first bite, I nearly passed out from how good it was! I haven’t had heaps of nasi lemak before, but out of all the ones I’ve tried while living in Australia, this was hands down the best!!! I’m already looking forward to going back for more😋

We had bubur ayam, jus alpukat and tempeh medoan. Everything was cheap, delicious and authentic. I’d highly recommend to anyone to try it!! The service was great and they were very accommodating :)

Lunch @PondokRempahCBD for Ayam Goreng Geprek and Ayam Betutu. Shared with a workmate, the crispy geprek chicken was yum but wanted more spick kick. I liked the crispy betutu chicken. Both dishes are hearty and filling and great value when you want something that will deliver on flavour, quantity and value. I also enjoyed teh tarik. To finish were the satay skewers sitting waiting to be eaten. These were amazing. Indonesia Cuisine. I had skewers and a beer here. I sat outside. Wonderful chef and waitress. Great food. Affordable and very nice. I've come back to take photos and write a review.

Very busy, nice food and very good service. Food to less then no time to be served with table water as well. Very busy but well worth it if you love Indonesian food. Well.prised as well, about $20 per meal and will fill you up.

I love this place! I tried several dishes, and all of them were delicious, the chicken satay with peanut butter sauce, Nasi Goreng Ayam, Mie Goreng Chicken, and one more dish (I forgot the name, but I posted the pictures). The prices are great, and they even offer an all-day student discount, which is such a thoughtful touch for a small restaurant (even though I’m not a student). The service can be a little bit slow, but it’s understandable given the small space and the high number of customers, but definitely not bad at all. My only tip: wear something casual, because no matter what you wear, you’ll leave smelling like food.

So glad we walked in! Everything is delicious. Nasi Goreng - fried egg noodles is so yummy we also ordered the Vermicelli version. Chicken Pate - a must have We tried many dishes. The yellow rice is aromatic and pairs with everything. The in-house Sambal chili sauce is the best.

As a big fan of Nasi Lemak, I strongly recommend this restaurant, so yummy! But just a place for catching a quick bite. Btw their service is very nice and gentle!

Stumbled on this Indo restaurant whilst walking around by our hotel. I’m glad I stopped for a meal, Tumpeng Minu was massive and tasted great. I’ve been hanging for a indo feed. Yummmmyyy

Absolutely loved this hidden gem of an Indonesian spot! Unlike the busier places, there were no long queues, but the food was packed with flavor and the service was top-notch. The waiter took the time to explain the dishes and helped us pick exactly what we wanted. We had such a great experience that we ended up coming back twice in the same week. A total hit with the whole family!

The satay chicken was delicious. The main dishes were not that bad. But I loved the drink. Can't remember the name. It was highly recommended by the host. Note: Everything is halal, money well spent.

Delicious authentic Indonesian food. Reasonable price with generous serving size. Easily one of the best Indonesian meals I have had in Australia. Aromatic spice and tender meat. Will definitely visit again.

I was initially a little skeptical at the amount of 5 star reviews, but after eating here I can confirm that all of the good reviews are real and so accurate! This place has amazing food at an affordable price and is definitely worth trying out. Aromatic flavours and a variety of options. The beef rib soup was one of my favourites, very warm and comforting with a generous amount of meat. Will definitely be coming back!

Head here for some authentic and delicious Indonesian food. Featuring dishes such as Gado Gado, Bakso Sapi, Mini Nasi Tumpeng, Beef Rendang, Ikan Asam Pedas, Seafood Mie Goreng and Lontong Cap Go Meh, you'll be in for a feast. The flavours are punchy and bold, and everything is cooked beautifully. The Bakso Sapi was so good that we ordered another to go.

Today's last day in Melb since gotta relocate to regional area tomorrow, so just came over to Pondok Rempah to nurture my tummy with their second-to-none Tumpeng Mini. Food itself, staff and atmosphere are just perfect. Definitely will come over here again once i back to Melb in the future.

Undoubtedly the best nasi goreng I’ve tasted in Melbourne! The fact that you can adjust the spiciness of it is definitely a plus! Very extensive menu and I’m tempted to go back and try everything there. Gets a bit crowded but yet good service.

Delicioso! Great food, great taste, reasonable price and nice ambient. Close to Victoria market. Worth to visit after exploring Victoria Market and when you are long for authentic Indonesian food. And it’s Halal!

Had the Mini Tumpeng rice and they were scrumptious!! The beef rendang was cooked to perfection in terms of flavour and texture, fried chicken was crispy and yet tender, and the accompanying sambal was perfect & hot 🔥 Would have liked more vege and rice to be less sticky but they’re not a drawback. We’re already planning our visit for other items in the menu :)
