I got the chicken gulai and stir fry potato, with fragrant rice. The gulai was rich and aromatic, the chicken was super tender and flavorful, and the potato had just the right heat to bring everything together. Salero Kito isn’t fancy, but it makes up for that with soul. The atmosphere is simple, filled with the buzz of Indonesian conversations, which instantly made me feel at home. Absolutely loved this Indonesian restaurant! The food was amazing — full of rich flavors, perfectly cooked, and surprisingly similar to Pakistani cuisine, which made it feel like a comforting taste of home with a twist. The vibe of the place was great — relaxed, vibrant, and welcoming. What really stood out was the customer service — super friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. I genuinely loved the food, the atmosphere, and the overall hospitality. Can’t wait to come back and try more from the menu. Highly recommend! 🌶️🍛🇮🇩

We had take away from this place. The padang dishes were very delicious & authentic. Beef tendon curry, beef rendang, cassava leave curry, potato & beef, chicken curry (gulai) were great! The green chilli is a must try. We will come back for more!

This is truly the place to experience authentic Indonesian cuisine in Melbourne. Especially Padang food or Nasi Padang. We ordered the Nasi Rames, which consisted of rice and three side dishes: beef rendang, balado beef lung, and curly kale curry. The taste was not disappointing. The side dishes and vegetables were all very flavorful.

I have my lunch here before the SkyBus to Airport. Ordered rice with curry tendons and beef in black sauce for $15. The serving was generous and hardly able to get this generous serving for $15 and food was tasty and yummy. Tables are limited to like 30pxn thus may be easier full during meal time. I came at about 3pm thus easy to find seat but it was almost full soon.

it's good. the taste not really that strong, pretty sure the chef already match the flavour with aussie's. it's more like curry than that kind of "padang". too light but still good. what I love the most is they have "brain lamb"!! oh I can't find this anywhere. I'm so miss thisss 🥰🥰

Loved this cheap and cheerful nasi padang eatery. I was unmming and ahhhhing and ended up getting two meats over rice from the bain marie - beef rendang and sweet soy chicken. The girl serving with the head scarf was really lovely and helpful and told me the Sumatran style is to have lots of curry sauce over the rice so it’s fairly wet. I love all sauces and this was perfect along with their green sambal on the side. $15 plus $3 for the jasmine tea. It was delicious and authentic and I’d definitely return!

Bought Nasi Padang and mee goreng take out. The beef rendang and chicken curry were excellent, rich and flavourful. Mee goreng was good as well, with a nice spicy kick (they’ll ask if you want spicy). Super friendly staff and saw lots of Indonesians dining here while waiting for food. Will definitely revisit.

Got two boxes takeaway, I wasn’t aware theres Minang food in this area, when I went for walk with my kid. Im craving “”goreng paru” gule kikil, and Gule Ikan Bawal” you can find it all in this place. Thanks for having me at your establishment, really appreciate it. Keep the Autenticity of your food😋 Place was’t fancy but atmosphere more like Indonesian restourant back home, if you missed home or long way from home this place could bring all happiness in a second! 🤞

Today I discovered a place that I'll be visiting more often. The atmosphere is clean and comfortable. The staff are very friendly, welcoming and polite. The food was absolutely beautiful !!! Today, I ordered and enjoyed a combo called 'Nasi Padang'. Which is a choice of 2 meat and 1 vegetable dish. I enjoyed some gorgeous Beef Rendang, Sweet and Sour Fish, mixed vegetables, and an absolutely mouth-watering Green Chilli Paiste. Plus a nice serve of rice and a very refreshing Jasmine Tea. All the ingredients were fresh and delicious. The portion size is perfect, and the prices are great. I highly recommend Salero Kito Padang !!!

We go to the city just to eat here, the food is so authentic and the best Indonesian food filled with flavor and keeps you wanting more. Every single dish is cooked to perfection and has always been right never missing perfection. Love this place and is highly recommended

The food here was delicious, had the beef ribs with rice and it came with a soup and a salad all of which were very delicious! The ribs had great flavor but I do wish the meat was a bit softer - regardless, the overall meal was very yum. We also got the canteen styled rice and curries which were also a great hit and had lots of flavor. The drink we ordered was very refreshing as well. The decorations were made to look like a local canteen which was very cool and all in all a great experience and fantastic value for money! Would recommend coming here for good Halal meal!

Loved dining here! They serve up Padang food in the O.G Padang style from a Bain Marie, or you can order from the menu. Possibly the best lamb ribs we’ve ever had 😍 Cute themed interior transports you to Indonesia, it didn’t feel like we were in Melbourne while dining here 🇮🇩 And the staff are extremely friendly!! I complaints here, we will be back.

A restaurant towards the end of a small alleyway serving authentic Indonesian food. The best way to enjoy the place is to order a combo plate of 3 items with rice. Even though some items are supposed to be spicy, the level of spiciness has been lowered for non-Indonesians to still enjoy “safely” but they do ask if you want a spicy green sauce (jalapeno, perhaps) and that was a good way for each one to adjust the spiciness of your food order. The vibe of the place - food display and interior design, is great.

Great, authentic West Sumatran/Padang restaurant. The best one in Melbourne for sure. Some dishes even taste better than the ones in Indonesia, probably because the meat and offals here in Australia are MUCH higher in quality than the ones in Indonesia and it really shows on the braised/grilled dishes.

I discovered a great place for nasi padang today. Tucked in a laneway off Spencer St and King St, this modest restaurant serves very authentic and delicious Indonesian dishes. I enjoyed the beef rendang and silverbeet curry very much. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. Sedap!

Food was so goooood! Especially the Mee goreng that took is by surprise. It's such a simple dish but packed with flavours. Kudos to the chef. Satay lidah padang was so tender. And the dishes we took with rice were super flavorful as well. Spent $68 for everything, which to us was worth it.

Nice little place for some good Indonesian food. Had the Nasi Padang set with Egg Curry, Silverbeet Curry and Chicken, along with a side of the deliciously spicy eggplant side. Mouth's on fire, but a super contented belly!

One of the best Indonesian/Padang Restaurants in Melbourne, every time we dine here it always hits the spot. They recently moved to a new location 9 Rose Ln, Melbourne VIC 3000 so make sure you check it out! • Plenty to choose from either from the bain marie or cook to order but both are delicious. Here is what we ordered: ⭐⭐Sate Padang ⭐Chicken Fried Rice ⭐Ayam Pop ⭐Soto Betawi ⭐Beef Ribs ⭐Variety of Ice Pops • "Sate Padang" is a must-try here, delicious beef tongue skewers, cooked in a complex spice mix and grilled to perfection. The gooey yellow sauce was finger-licking good. This is truly Padang food at its best 😋 • We also tried their version of Ayam Pop - chicken pieces that are cooked in aromatic spices, seasonings, and coconut water and then briefly fried in oil. We loved the flavour and the chicken meat was tender enough for us, perhaps we would the chicken meat to be cooked slightly more oily. Make sure you ask for the sambal (chilli oil) to go with the chicken 😋 • Beef Ribs was also delicious, love the tender and juicy beef ribs and it paired really well with the warm rice - recommended. • You can also try Soto Betawi & Chicken Fried Rice if you're looking for something different and new. Both are recommended! • Overall, one of the staples here in Melbourne. Must-try!
