Office workers in Melbourne’s CBD are about to change the way they view their lunchtime sandwiches, with the arrival of the iconic Indonesian sandwich joint Warkop to Little Collins Street. Having first opened Warkop in Richmond in 2021, owners Barry Susanto (ex-Navi Sous Chef) and Erwin Chandra are expanding their humble-yet-popular sandwich venture to share the authentic flavours and friendly culture of their homeland with more curious foodies across the city. Along with housemade sweet and savoury pastries and fresh salads, the CBD sandwich menu will offer Susanto’s greatest hits he has perfected over the last year, including roast pork with sambal burrata, salted lettuce and black garlic on fresh shokupan bread.

One of the best chicken sandwiches that I’ve had! Bun is super fluffy, chicken is crispy and the sauce is tangy which makes the whole sandwich not greasy and delicious. Matcha lemonade is very unique but also delicious. Staff are super friendly. Will definitely be back!!

Came here for lunch and had the filet o fish which was very tasty; encased in a nice and pillowy potato roll. The fried rockling was freshly cooked, flaky and meaty with a thin crispy coating which was not greasy at all. The slice of cheese works and the burger can do with or without alfalfa sprouts. Last but not least, the combination of the tangy tartare sauce and the savory sambal matah was rich and flavour packed. Overall a great fish burger.

I ordered a latte and tuna melt. Both were out of the world! Coffee tastes was smooth and strong. Loved it. Tuna melt felt like a proper melt sandwich. Was an excellent experience over all. Will visit again!

By far one of my favourite fried chicken sandwiches. Always crispy, juicy and full of flavour with a perfect balance of toppings - super delicious. Other sandwiches are fantastic as well. Tried a few desserts too, personally like the matcha mochi brownie. Staff are always great and friendly.

Fillet o fish was crispy and tasty. Soft bun, creamy tartar sauce. Enjoyed it. Adequate number of seatings. Clean. Nice staffs.

The Fried Chicken Sandwich was INSANELY delicious... every single part of that burger seemed to have been perfectly crafted and balanced. I usually hate pickles but the dill blended seamlessly with the juicy, flavourful chicken. Definitely will be coming again.

Reviewing solely based on the Filet o Fish - pretty much perfect. Light, crispy batter on the fish, super moist on the inside, very generous portion. Well-balanced flavours, uplifted by some Asian influence to keep it interesting e.g. little bits of lime leaf. Tiny point for improvement is it could use more freshness and crisp, so a bit of lettuce might go really well with it. Editing to add: tried the chicken burger. Great, but not as good as the fish.

The fish and chicken sandwich are really delicious. The true secret gem of this place are their fries which are fried to a crispy perfection with a delicious seasoning blend.

Great place for breakfast and coffee. The staff is lovely. The food was really good. Not too big, so it can get busy very quick.

Great little coffee shop on Little Collins Street. The coffee was hot and well made. I also enjoyed the Palm Sugar Cake - delicious. Will be back to try the sandwiches too. Service was first class. Still going strong! Love this place. Highly recommended.

Hidden gem in Melb Just had an amazing experience at Warkop and had to share! I ordered the Filet-O-Fish and Beef Brisket sandwiches, along with a Palm Sugar Iced Coffee—and everything was absolutely delicious. The Filet-O-Fish was crispy and flavorful, with a perfect balance of textures and a subtle, savory kick. The Beef Brisket sandwich was next-level tender, juicy, and packed with rich flavor that melts in your mouth. And that palm sugar iced coffee? A total standout smooth, perfectly sweetened, and super refreshing. It’s the kind of drink you keep thinking about long after the meal is over. The vibes were warm and welcoming, and the service was spot-on. Can’t wait to come back and try more from the menu. Highly recommend if you’re after something unique, satisfying, and full of heart!

Easily one of my favourite sandwich shops in Melbourne - I love the twist on Indonesian food. I've tried all the sandwiches on the menu multiple times and they're all great, and if anything getting better.

Update: went again after 8 months and I feel like the piece of fish in both of the sandwiches we ordered were larger. Still consistently a hit! So so good! The fish sandwich is a must try. I just wish the serving was slightly bigger on that one. The beef and pickles toastie was good too, but sent me into a food coma 😂 not complaining though!

Very friendly staff. The bacon and egg breakfast muffin with cheese and hashbrown is so good! They cooked everything perfectly, it came out hot and fresh. Best bacon and egg muffin I’ve had! Runny egg, crispy bacon ( generous portion), melted cheese, crispy seasoned hashbrown, toasted muffin 👍

Warkop is an absolute hidden gem in the heart of the CBD and with a second location hidden away from the main streets of Richmond with a slightly differing menu - I can't fault either of them for their food, service or atmosphere. Having tried almost all of them, I can tout that they are the most deliciously authentic, Indonesian-inspired toasties this side of Lombok. It's hard to choose a favourite except to say that I could never get sick of the Rendang Beef and I love that the Richmond store has a rotating special every weekend. And make sure to add some of their homemade chilli sambal that needs to be bottled and sold. The service is impeccable, no matter what time of the day - I'm greeted with a smile and a small side jar of that chilli sambal. As for desserts, I've only tried the Kaya Cruller and with one of their barista made coffees, it was the perfect sweet treat (but I'm a sucker for anything Kaya after my recent trips to Asia). Life is too short for a bad sandwich and I can confirm there is nothing bad about these ones and only everything good!

Indonesian sandwich and coffee shop by an ex-Navi sous chef serving up Indo-inspired toasties and pastries! We tried: 🥪 Beef Brisket & Pickle 🍔 Fillet o Fish 🍟 Fries 🍰 Pandan Lamington 🍰 Palm Sugar Burnt Basque Cheesecake ☕️ Palm Sugar Iced Coffee (Kopsuguren) Absolutely loved the beef brisket toastie, which was super juicy with savoury slices of brisket, American cheese oozing out the sides and yummy rendang sauce. The toasted rye was crunchy and sprinkled with salt. The Filet o Fish was also really juicy with tender fried rockling, fragrant tartare in a soft potato bun. Their fries were super crunchy and well seasoned. We tried some of their cakes too - the cheesecake was deliciously creamy and smooth, while the pandan lamington was fluffy with yummy cream in the middle. Their palm sugar ice coffee was also a hit!

Our husband and I love Warkop. We’ve been coming here regularly since the CBD store first opened. The fillet o fish is the best, it’s perfectly made every time and tastes amazing. I’ve also tried the cookie, Kaya cruller and basque cheesecake. All so delicious. Coffee is always consistent. Lastly, staff are always friendly :) highly recommended!

Excellent sandwiches and drinks, definitely up there with the best in Melbourne! Fish and chicken sandwiches pictured were made fresh, crispy and hot, bread soft, tangy balanced sauces. Service delightful and chill. Calamansi soda was refreshingly zesty!
