Ayam Bakar 7 Saudara
I can honestly say this restaurant has the best grilled chicken I’ve ever had in Sydney. The chicken is perfectly tender and packed with flavor. But it’s the grilled rice (Nasi Bakar with Teri) that really steals the show—it’s hands down the best I’ve ever tasted. What makes this place even better is the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The owners are incredibly kind. If you’re looking for a delicious and comforting meal with a side of genuine hospitality, you have to try this spot!

New found local gem! Kind-hearted and genuinely friendly owners, grateful for the hospitality on a casual weekday lunch. Warm welcome upon arrival despite being short-handed. Humble and warm setup with tables tucked away at the back, will remind you of the warung eating experience. Food did not disappoint at all. Ayam bakar spatchcock, recommended by owner, was seasoned and grilled to perfection. Papa, usually hard to please, gave a thumbs up to Sate ayam and nasi goreng ayam. Kids loved the ayam Bakar, mie ayam jamur and sop buntut. Complimentary dessert made the whole experience very enjoyable. Definitely give it a try. I know we’ll be back.

The food I ordered here was really delicious. If you’re craving authentic Indonesian dishes, this is the perfect place. It’s pretty affordable too, and the taste really cures that homesick feeling. The owners, Uncle Ridwan and Auntie Sussan, are super kind and welcoming. They greeted us warmly and even gave us free cantaloupe dessert after we ate. I’m definitely coming back. So happy I found this place!

Very Comforting atmosphere with the taste of home cooked food, feels like I have been taken back to the time I was living in Jakarta. The food is amazing and one of the best Indonesian restaurant in Sydney!! If you’re in Penshurst this is a hidden gem and a must try!! Thank you Uncle And Auntie for a warm welcome and delicious food ❤️

Tasty, authentic Indonesian food. Service was great too! Their nasi uduk is one of the best I’ve tried in Sydney, so fragrant and reminded me of nasi uduk I always used to eat when I was little in Jakarta. We also ordered sop buntut, the meat was tender, soup is punchy and packed full of flavour.

Thank you so much Om and Tante for the amazing food and the most hospitable service in Sydney. The food and atmosphere really brings me back to my grandma’s home. I highly recommend the ayam bakar, Nasi bakar, sayur asem, Nasi uduk and especially the kangkung!! Seriously nothing tastes like it was cooked in Australia, so impressed and feels like you’re dining in someone’s home 🥹 also thank you so much Om for your kindness, I really appreciate it ❤️

This is seriously one of the best Indonesian restaurants ever in Australia. The ayam bakar, nasi bakar, nasi uduk and kangkung belacan were all 10/10! Everything tastes like a home cooked meal and you could tell that a lot of care was taken in preparing the meal. Very well and reasonably priced. We came a long way to try the food, and it did not disappoint! The owners were also incredibly friendly.

Dinner was delicious - super authentic and great vibes inside that really reminds me of Jakarta restaurants. We tried the spatchcock, nasi goreng patai, nasi bakar teri, tahu telor and sayur asem Everything was so good, my personal favourites were the nasi bakar (the anchovies were so pleasant, usually I’m not a fan of anchovies but they weren’t overly fishy like I’m used to, so that’s a huge plus from me), and the tahu telor omelette was amazing. I’d highly recommend trying it The interior was retro vibes like many restaurants in Indonesia, and featured the owners’ son’s Star Wars Legos as decoration. Overall for our meal it cost $101 and split between 3 for filling portions. They kindly gave us complimentary desert which was a nice surprise at the end

My husband and I came in for a quick lunch stop, we felt like we were visiting a relative’s house, food was amazing- best grilled chicken we’ve had in awhile. We also ordered the fried bakso for appetiser, grilled rice and sayur asem- all flavours reminded me of home. Must try if you’re in the area 🙏🏽

It might be my 10th visit to this hidden Gem and like every time they don’t leave a single chance to surprise me. When it comes to the food, damm Indonesian food at its best. Warning for someone who is prone to spices and chilli. This might be a hubspot for people who loves chilli food. We ordered chicken satay - flavourful and fresh chicken thigh. Top of the it’s class. Then tried their signature nasi goreng which hits hard due to the higher chilli choice for me. But the star of the show was the noodles we ordered. The owner spreads a great gesture with his behaviour and smile. He is the person who Runs the show ( cooking and operating ). He brings a homely vibe for the customers. Personal attachment is there which is largely not available in places now. Even food customisation available based on your preference. Price point has been standard based on the quality what they provide. Would come back again for sure. 5 out of 5

We visited the restaurant today after suddenly craving Indonesian food. Knowing there’s a long-standing Indonesian spot nearby, we decided to give it a try and we’re so glad we did! We had the Nasi Bakar Teri, which was incredibly flavorful. The Rendang Sapi was tender and rich, packed with authentic spices. The Sate Kambing came with a deliciously authentic peanut sauce, and the lamb was perfectly seasoned. The Ayam Bakar was juicy and full of flavor, and the Soto Ayam was warm, comforting, and absolutely delicious. We ended up finishing every single dish and even took a bag of shrimp crackers home! The flavors reminded me of my grandmother’s cooking, so traditional and nostalgic. Highly recommend if you’re after an authentic Indonesian food experience!

Authentic Indonesian food with incredible hospitality! I highly recommend this place for a casual lunch or dinner in a local family run restaurant. We ordered the grilled chicken thigh, gado-gado, chicken skewers, and chicken fried rice. Everything tasted amazing and you cannot go wrong with these selections. It's not often that you find a gem like this and I would definitely be back to try more dishes.

The nasi Goreng here was very good. I haven't had it with lamb before but it was delicious. The fried Chicken meatball was pretty cool texture and was great with the sauce that came with it. I'm not sure if the chicken was prepared how it is as it's my first time trying Indonesian chicken but I found both cuts pretty dry even the fried Thigh. I was looking forward to the chicken but it didn't connect with me. Parking pretty easy on the streets and surrounding areas. The main eating area is at the back and it's not super big but it's fun walking through it has a real homey feeling.

Was craving Indonesian food for no particular reason and found this local place so I thought I’d give it a try. The dishes were great. Got a bunch of takeaway including their fried rices and chicken and gado-gado. Everything was delicious and flavourful. I did takeaway and there wasn’t any loss of quality along the way. Assembled plate. Watched Full Metal Alchemist while chomping down. Perfect. The owners were also very warm and enthusiastic about our trying Indonesian food with them for the first time. If you’re in the area and looking for some flavour, this is well worth a visit.

Feels like I was back in Indo with background music, the smell of the delicious food, the angklung decor. I had satay with nasi uduk, didn’t know it would be such an amazing pairing 🤤 so good! Nasi goreng kambing was also ordered by my brother, delicious! Taste exactly like how they make it in Indo, not oily at all and can tell the ingredients are all fresh! They ayam bakar was yummy too! The sambal have good kick of spice. I loved what we ordered. I will be back for more! 🤩

Great food with very authentic indo recipes, I don’t feel I’m in Penshurst while having my Ayam Bakar 😄 served by very friendly indo couple. Worth with the price. They even gave me complementary dessert

Incredible experience! The food was absolutely amazing—so full of flavour and clearly made with love. But what really stood out was the hospitality. The staff were warm, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. One of the best dining experiences I’ve had. Can’t wait to come back!

Great service and value group of 5 we all happy received complementary free desert like wow that's a first. Also my wife loved their chili 🌶️ I asked if they sold which they didn't but insisted in giving us some in container. Place may be dated but cant ask for better hospitality. Shame it's not closer to o home

We travelled from Melbourne to Sydney to watch soccer and come back to this restaurant. We ordered lamb fried rice, Soto ayam and ayam bakar - it’s yummy. We really love the food.
