Ayam Goreng 99 is an Authentic Indonesian restaurant located in Kingsford We first opened our doors on the 1st of August 1998. Since then we have been serving traditional authentic Indonesian food with the freshest ingredients and locally source produce. "Ayam Goreng" means Fried Chicken in Indonesian and our traditional marinated fried chicken is what we are known for, as well as for our "Ayam Bakar" which is a marinated charcoal grilled chicken. We serve that with our handmade 'Sambel Terasi" or translated to spicy belachan chilli sauce, which we still cooking it traditionally in a big wok for several hours in our kitchen. The sauce is available in the jar for purchase only at our restaurant. Our menu has a variety of dishes like Nasi Goreng (fried rice), Bakmie goreng (stir-fried egg noodle), Charcoal grilled Chicken or Lamb satay, Cah Kangkung (stir-fry onchoy with belachan), as well as Soups, traditional drinks and many more.

Ayam Goreng 99
One of the best Indonesian Ayam Goreng. Had the Javanese style 1/4 thigh. Full on flavour and very fragrant. The food is really affordable and great value. There was a queue on the weekend Sunday, easy to get spot for two. Keen to try their other dishes.

Amazing Indonesian food and great for large groups. Highly recommend the grilled chicken and coconut rice! It’s really tasty and tender meat and the rice compliments it well with its subtle sweetness. The satay chicken is nice and the rice cake was softer than I imagined. Parking can be found on the road parallel to the main road and it’s a few mins walk.

Had the Beef Rendang, Nasi Goreng Spesial, and Soto Babat — all were really tasty and comforting! Honestly, it’s the most authentic Indonesian food I’ve had in Australia so far, tasted just like what you’d get in Indonesia. The place was buzzing with people, so it’s clearly a local favorite. I’ll definitely be back!

Came here for lunch, we ordered grilled chicken, fried chicken, soup, and satay.. food came fast, but it was ok nothing too special.. the chicken was a bit too dry for me. and the satay, its using peanut butter sauce, not authentic homemade.. so it tasted a bit weird when paired with the satay which I quite dislike. The staff was friendly, the place is cozy and easy to find..

I was recommended this place by a friend for their chargrilled chicken. It didn’t disappoint, soo much flavour and the best Indo chargrilled chicken i’ve ever had! Can’t wait to come back next time i’m in Sydney

Absolute gem of a spot. One of my favourite places in Sydney. Ayam bakar is 10/10

The best. Been coming for more than decade (maybe two?) and it never disappoints. Now our kids are enjoying it. The chicken is perfect, tempe goreng is awesome. Soups, noodles, rice...all good.

I had always gone this place when I crave Indonesian cuisine. And only now, after lockdown, I visted and did this review. One of the authentic Indonesian restaurants you can get in Sydney. As the name of the place, Ayam Goreng meaning Fried Chicken, it is also one of its best sellers. Ordered: • Plain Steamed Rice $3.50 Best having plain rice with the chicken, but if you like to explore to more rich flavours, go with the coconut rice (nasi uduk) • Ayam Goreng Kalasan (Paha) $9 1/4 piece of Deep Fried Marinated Javanese Style Chicken Thigh • Cah Kangkung $18 Stir-fry Onchoy (water spinach) with garlic, belachan (shrimp paste), onions and chilli This goes hand-in-hand with the chicken btw 😉 and the belachan makes it even tastier • Soto Babat $16.50 Beef and Tripe Curry Soup with Tomato and Shallots It’s actually more like laksa-ish soup than curry-ish soup 🙃 All of them are tasty and delicious. The only downfall is, I wanted more, though the tummy didn’t agree. (The meal was shared amongst 2 persons.) They have their own chilli sauce to go with your chicken. And you can buy them at the counter. Hint: try eating the chicken with the chilli sauce mixed with sweet soy sauce. It takes you to the next level 🤤 Note: • There is surcharge card fee about 1-1.5% (please check at the counter) • Although water is ‘served’ in bottles, you can ask for free tea to the staffs (this used to be at the cutleries table next to the drink fridge). Please be considerate 🙂 • You can ask for the sweet soy sauce to the staffs too. And please be considerate when consuming

Delicious food. We tried Nasi Goreng, fried chicken, barbecue chicken, fried chicken liver and coconut rice. Everything was delicious, just that the coconut rice was bit dry. But it was nothing compared all the flavourful dishes. And their homemade chilli sambal was great!! We ended up buying a bottle to take home. Highly recommend this place.

Been going for 30 years. Always great. My only complaint is the size of the glass the avocado drink comes in jas gotten smaller over time.

Good things: - food was so yummy! - very delicious and good portion size for price you pay! - staff are very nice ! Bad things: - sort out the ventilation - it can get very smoky when the kitchen is working hard.

Consistent good quality fried chicken. We love their marinated fried chicken. Rest of dishes are average (nasi goreng is low on meat)...some overpriced (like Petai) but if you stick to their speciality you wont be disappointed

The best barbecue chicken around! We love the Paha Bakar (charcoal grilled marinated chicken thigh) which is $7.50 a piece. Ayam Goreng 99 is open for take away from 12-8pm Wednesday to Sunday. Staff are friendly and the food is usually ready within 10 minutes.

Ordered a fried chicken thigh just for a quick snack and loved it! Skin was light and crispy with juicy meat inside and it falls apart so easily. Staff was really friendly and the food was served quickly. Would recommend this dish!

Great food, quick service- you get in, inhale all the goodness, get out. Been here a few times and experience has been wonderful each time. Our favourites are the grilled chicken and Javanese fried chicken.

Finally got a chance to try this restaurant! It is always super busy during weekdays! We had nasi goreng, kweatiau goreng, chicken satay with rice cakes, fried egg yolk and fried soybean. All of them were amazing! The gorengs were super flavorful but not too oily or salty. I love their traditional peanut butter sauce which goes really well with fried food! My partner and I both enjoyed the meal!

Looks like family run restaurant. The atmosphere is like canteen in real Indonesia, there are plain tables and chair, and self service water and dishes. I ordered curry soup and coconut milk rice, that was awesome. The foods were served very quickly. The tripes in the soup were well cooked, very juicy and tender. But the price is quite reasonable.

Even though i have lots to say, i’ll keep it short. This is the first place i’ve tried Indonesian and my only regular after trying them all. Honestly hooked. It might be ‘simple’ according to some reviews. Although the beauty of the cuisine is combing different flavours from different dishes. Best to do it, the 99 effect.

Ayam Goreng 99 is a hidden gem that delivers some of the best fried chicken you’ll ever taste! The chicken is crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside—absolutely delicious. The spices are perfectly balanced, giving each bite an incredible burst of flavor. The side dishes, like the rice and sambal, complement the fried chicken so well. The service is quick and friendly, and the atmosphere is casual but welcoming. Whether you’re craving comfort food or looking to try something new, Ayam Goreng 99 is a must-visit. Highly recommend for anyone who loves flavorful, mouthwatering fried chicken!
