It was back in 1989, when the couple behind Bintang made the move from Indonesia to build a life in Australia. As migrants, they inevitably felt homesick but fortunately, they found deep comfort in the food they enjoyed back home. Whether that be rawon or gado gado, Indonesian food gave them the feeling of “home” and a sense of connectedness to the country they had been born and raised in. Over the years, the Bintang family have always shared their love and passion for Indonesian food with their closest friends and family - where a trip to the household would be synonymous to a good feed. It has now come to that point where they thought it’d be special to be able to share their food and home made recipes with the wider community -whether that be to the homesick Indonesians or the local who has never set their hands on a good old Nasi Rendang, Nasi Gudeg, Nasi Penyet and Mie Pangsit. The Bintang family aims to spread its love for Indonesian food with the hopes that you’ll all fall in love with it too!
