Wow! The best Indonesian food I’ve had, and I have traveled there 3 times. Curry made from scratch beautiful light flavours, all the dishes we had were 10/10. We enjoyed it so much, I had to order take away to take back to country Victoria. Do yourself a favour and try it, you won’t be disappointed. Very traditional and it felt like a bowl of warm satisfaction.

My Asian Neighbour truly feels like a neighborhood gem — it’s the first restaurant where I’ve explored every one of their specialty dishes. Looking back at some of my old food photos, I was reminded of how much I love Ayam Wako, Ayam Bakar, Babi Rica Rica, and many others. In fact, I’ve fallen in love with most of their dishes! The flavors lean on the heavier side, but they are undeniably delicious. This time, I decided to try their special, Ayam Betutu, to see if it would become another favorite. I was pleasantly surprised—the chicken was juicy and tender, with a well-balanced flavor. However, compared to the bolder, more intense dishes on the menu, its subtle taste was easily overshadowed. It was still enjoyable, but if you’re ordering other rich, flavorful dishes, the delicate essence of Ayam Betutu might not shine as much. Overall, it was a great addition to my experience at My Asian Neighbour — flavorful, tender, and well-executed. While it may not be as bold as some of their other offerings, it’s a great choice for those who prefer something lighter. I’ll definitely be back to explore more of their specials!

Absolutely delicious! My Asian Neighbour is a true hidden gem in Reservoir. The Beef Rendang was the standout for me — rich, tender, and they made it perfectly spicy on request. I also had the Sate Babi Bakar and Terong Balado — both full of flavour and cooked to perfection. Friendly service and a menu that makes you want to come back for more.

Authentic Indonesia that is truly scrumptious and where you know every meal is prepared with true heart and soul. Last night one of the dishes we had was quite unique and we found out it was the main chef and owners own fathers favourite Sulawesi dish and a recipe passed down from her mother. What a treat! We all loved every dish and our Indonesian guest we brought along, a chef himself, loved every bite and left so full because he thought the food was just so authentic and that was something really hard to find here in Melbourne. If you're in the area or looking for great Indonesia food- you have to try it.

We love coming here! Authentic food and great service always! Everything is just full of flavour and we just have to go back again and try more dishes. You cab tell that the owners really care about their customers. 5/5 thank you! Besides from the mains and entrees, their desserts are also really well made esp the pandan pancakes! 😋

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely incredible! My Asian Neighbour is hands down one of the best dining experiences. The food is absolutely delicious – full of flavour and perfectly balanced. Every dish we tried was a winner. The service was just as impressive – warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. And the vibe? Amazing. The atmosphere is fun, energetic, and modern without being over the top – the perfect spot for a relaxed dinner or a night out with friends. Highly recommend this place – you’ll be back for more (just like we will)!

We recently celebrated my dad’s 58th birthday at My Asian Neighbour, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Our party of seven—Dutch family and friends—are big fans of Indonesian cuisine, and this place absolutely delivered. The staff were incredibly friendly, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made our celebration even more special. Every dish on the menu was a hit—so much so that we found ourselves recommending everything! The flavors were spot-on, and the presentation was just as delightful. Thank you to the team at My Asian Neighbour for making this birthday one to remember. We’ll definitely be back with even more appetites and recommendations.

Absolutely love this Indonesian restaurant in Reservoir! It has such a fun, quirky and inviting atmosphere. An absolute go to if you want to be transported to Indonesia for a meal. The menu has such a range of delicious options - everything I've tried has been absolutely delicious. I most recently tried the - Kaki Babi (slow cooked pork with rice and various veg - divine). The pork was cooked to perfection - flavourful, succulent and pulled apart just with my fork. All the various components of the dish came together for such an amazing texture and flavour fusion. Can't wait to come back again ☺️ - JJ BRUNCH GAL

We have been wanting to go here ever since they opened! Our experience at My Asian Neighbour, an Indonesian food restaurant, was nothing short of exceptional. The gorgeous, fresh, and spicy dishes were exquisitely presented. Service was attentive & pleasant & prompt. Every item we ordered was not only delicious but left us eagerly planning our next dinner at this fantastic restaurant. We're looking forward to bringing along some good friends to share in this highly recommended culinary delight.

With the multitude and variety of selections of asian cuisine to choose from in Melbourne, thought we'd try My Asian Neighbour as it is relatively local to our area. Found their establishment on a Google search and was enticed firstly by their high Google star rating. 👌🏽 Restaurant is cosy, intimate (close seating, perhaps not everyones preferece?) and (on the night we visited) had that busy background chatter vibe ambience, reminiscent of if you were to eat at a Bali street restaurant. Upon arrival was greeted welcomingly, wait staff were attentative and prompt with their service overall. Amongst all the inviting dishes on the menu, we tried the spicy pork satay, goat curry, beef rendang and chicken/prawn nasi goreng...unfortunately no room for dessert...next time! 😂 The food presentation was top notch and tasted as good as it looked, perhaps a little better actually? 🤤 Pricing is reflective of the quality and is on par with other restaurants of this nature. Basically what you'd expect to pay these days to eat out. Based on my experience at My Asian Neighbour, I would highly recommend this restaurant for its food and service. 👍🏽 I will definitely be spending my money and time there again in the future. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It's been straight up almost a year since I have been here and I still think about this place. I honestly was not expecting the level of cooking that was done here. I loved every single bite that I had. The staff was great and the chef who I met was extremely nice and kind. I would definitely recommend coming here if you have not already. I am going to be a life long customer to this restaurant.

Good food and portions. Very busy. Had skewers, roti and Balinese banquet and nasi Goreng. All delicious. Only thing I would like was if there was some extra spiciness to the dishes. I did ask but everyone has different level of spice. Otherwise, good food and atmosphere. Would go back to try other dishes. Recommended A+++

The service here is lovely, thoughtful and attentive. The food is absolutely fantastic, what a beautiful restaurant to have in the area. Beautiful staff with a personalised experience. Could not recommend highly enough.

Such an amazing cozy little place that serves great food! Atmosphere is similar to dining in Indonesia which is a bonus! Definitely do book in early if you want to eat at the garden area. Food does get super spicy which I absolutely love!

Indonesian Restaurant to go for in north Melbourne. Small cozy place with super tasty finger licking food. The curries are super yumm with great depth of flavour. The variety on the menu is great so can visit this place again n again..

Great place for dinner. The service was friendly and food was really tasty. Some of the best Indonesian food I've had. Highly recommend the barramundi 'Ikan Pepes' - the fish was beauitfully cooked, pull-a-part and the flavours were great. Will return!

Absolutely incredible! Hands down the best Indonesian food I’ve ever had. Every dish was packed with flavour and cooked to perfection! The spices are spot on…rich, authentic, and totally delicious. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the service is super friendly. Highly recommend —five stars all the way!

An absolute must try if you live anywhere near Reservoir. The food is incredible (dining in or takeaway), authentic and the restaurant has a lovely backstory for good measure. The servings are consistently high quality and quantity, definitely try the Signature dish!

First timer. Love love love it. The Laksa was incredible. From the aroma to the flavour. Could not fault it at all. Had takeaway, but will definitely be going back to have dinner in. It has such a homely feel about it that I won't be able to resist going back. Keep up the great work
