Just got this delivered to work. Incredible plate of food. Penyet Komplit with Nasi Bakar, an absolute banger of a meal. Couldn't ask for anything more, the chicken was crispy and juicy, the sambal just the right amount of spice ๐คค

First time trying Indonesian food and was blown away by the delightful flavors! Nasi Bakar (steamed rice wrapped inside banana leaf) is so delicious and probably the only rice I want to ear. The main dishes such as Ayam Goreng Cabe Ijo (grilled chicken w spicy eggplant sauce) are perfectly seasoned. Brought friends for the second time here to try more dishes on the menu.

If you're in the area and craving Indonesian food, this place is a must-try. The dishes are packed with flavour and taste just like home-cooked meals. Highly recommend

A nice Indonesian restaurant where the staff is friendly and the food tastes clean. We tried their soto ayam, bakso (beef meatballs) and tahu kipas. The meatballs somehow tasted better than the other restaurant across the road which specialises in this dish. The nasi bakar was fragrant and the soda gembira drink was refreshing. During lunch time, the place was packed so it was lucky that we arrived early. Overall, we had a very good experience here.

Ordered the IGA Bakar for $18.50 and ayam penyet ijo for $14.50. Ayam was very crispy skin and juicy meat. Ijo was excellent with good fragrance, taste and growing spice. Became spicier the more you ate it. IGA meat was boiled tender and very smoky. But the sauce actually detracted from it being a bit too sweet and creamy. Will ask for it to be on the side next time. Will try one of the fried fishes next time. 5% surcharge on Sundays.

Ordered the Deep Fried Fish and Beef Ribs with Baked Rice (Bakar). All were very good, especially the fish. It was very crispy but juicy on the inside. The cendol lacked gula melaka (palm sugar). Otherwise, a great meal. Will bring the family next time.

We ordered nasi bakar with grilled chicken PNB chili sauce, lamb skewers, and fried tofu & tempeh. They were all great, but the best part was es campur, which I wish I could give 7 stars.

Authentic tasting Indonesian food, everything we ordered was delicious. The Iga Bakar (Grilled Ribs), Chicken Satay, Sayur Asem (Sour vegetable soup) and Tempeh Mendoan (deep fried fermented soybean) are super delicious. The place is quite spacious and the service is excellent. They were out of a few items from their menu, I really wanted to try the rawon (black beef soup). The highlight of the menu is the Nasi Bakar (grilled rice) wrapped in leaf. It was super delicious, I can eat it just by itself! Would definitely go back again. They are planning to move to 179-181 Clarendon St (date to be announced).

Had an amazing experience at this authentic Indonesian restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious, bursting with traditional flavors that truly transported me back to Indonesia. Grilled rice is top notch. Duck is very tender. Chicken noodle is springy and feels like home. The place itself is clean and well-maintained, offering a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Plus, there's plenty of parking available, which made our visit even more convenient. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy genuine Indonesian cuisine in a nice setting!"

To me this is one of the best Indonesian restaurants in Melbourne! This is probably biased because I really like their grilled beef and banana leaves rice. The sauce for the ribs is more sweet than spicy and it's personal preference, just right for me ๐ the meat is very tender and juicy too, I wouldn't order anything else when I come here.

Attended a friend's birthday at Pondok Nasi Bakar and it was fantastic! Delicious food, spacious venue perfect for large groups. The nasi liwet was the highlight - flavorful and satisfying. Highly recommend for gatherings and Indonesian cuisine lovers!

I had the Iga Bakar at Pondok Nasi Bakar, and it was absolutely delicious! The beef ribs were tender, juicy, and coated in a rich, caramelized sauce with just the right balance of sweetness and smokiness. The crispy fried shallots on top added a great crunch and extra depth of flavor. ๐คฉ๐คฉ๐คฉ๐คฉ๐คฉ๐คฉ๐คฉ๐คฉ The meal came with a generous serving of fluffy rice, perfectly seasoned with fried shallots, and a side of sambal that packed a flavorful, spicy kick. The fried tofu and tempeh were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, making for the perfect side dish. The light, comforting soup rounded out the meal beautifully. ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ The presentation was excellent, the portion size was satisfying, and the overall experience was fantastic. If you're a fan of grilled beef ribs with bold flavors, I highly recommend trying the Iga Bakar here. I'll definitely be coming back!

With Indo food all the craze RN, do yourself a favour and step away from the gram and immerse yourself in this deliciously authentic fare. The place might look worn but don't let looks fool you. This really was the ultimate in Indonesian spreads! The sate ayam was the best I've had since being in Indonesia (12 times so I come with a lil experience)... I couldn't get enough of the satay sauce. But not to be confused with the soto ayam which was just as flavourful but no where near as much fun as playing with the fried fish head. The penyet komplit was complete with everything and had insane flavour. I couldn't pick a favourite off this plate. [invite]

I ordered the sizeable Nasi Gudeg and my wife ordered the Penyet Ayam (grilled chicken chilli paste) with Nasi Bakar (banana leaf wrapped rice). Both were good. I never had the Javanese speciality Nasi Gudeg before. It was a feast for the eyes and delicious. Definitely worth re-orderkng.

A new addition to the busy high street of Clarendon. We ordered 3 beef ribs dishes. Highly recommend adding $2 for the nasi bakar grilled rice. It's well done, flavourful. The gado gado is huge. A little on the sweet side for my liking. The peanut sauce was beautiful. The chicken satay was good too. Every element was made with care and enthusiasm. Staff and service was friendly and prompt. I'd say it's the best Indonesian food I have tried. A portion is big for me (a big eater) and will keep you full for a whole day! Definitely worth a try if you're in the area.

Deliciously authentic Indonesian restaurant with very reasonable prices and portion sizes. Ordered: โข Nasi Goreng vegetarian - reminded me of being back in indo. I wish they had an egg on top or some satay with it but thatโs okay because it was yummy โข Ayam Penyet - good portion. Very crispy chicken and a great sambal for accompaniment โข Gado Gado - very traditional and delicious peanut sauce on top! Definitely going to return to try the other food on the menu including the es cendol. We had to get a takeaway container because we were very full!

Branch from the famous nasi Bakar from Geelong. Gone are the days where you have to drive so far to get your nasi Bakar fix. Food are generous in sizes although price is slightly on the pricier side. Nasi Bakar is fragrant although not as good as the one from Geelong branch. Pempek and nasi goreng are great although nothing too special about it. Food - 8 Service - 8 Vibe - 7 Price - $$$

Fantastic indo food. Pricing a little on the high side but havenโt all the prices gone up these days? Good service. Would come back to try other dishes. Nasi goreng was good. Only thing was, pic showed rice with egg and chicken, but actually one has to pay extra for the chicken and egg on the pic. Would still recommend.

Unbelievable Soto Betawi. Itโs a new take on the original from Jakarta. My all time favourite! Other dishes are good as well!
