Warung Agus is a family-run Balinese restaurant that has been operating in West Melbourne since 1989. Produce is sourced daily from nearby Queen Victoria Market to make signature Balinese dishes like babi guling (roast pork with crackling), ayam betutu (whole spatchcock stuffed with spices) and nasi campur (rice served with a rich variety of sides). A full vegan menu and plenty of gluten-free options are available. Thereโs also a kids menu offering mild versions of popular dishes, so kids to experience traditional dishes with their parents. Fresh juices and tropical mocktails complement takeaway meals, with Bintang beer, wine and signature cocktails available when dining in. Batch-cooked pre-frozen meals are available outside of regular opening hours.

We came here with one mission: Babi Guling. Weโd been seriously craving itโand it did not disappoint. Hands down the closest weโve had to the one in Bali! ๐ FEATURED: ๐ธ Strawberry Daiquiri [$17] ๐ Fragrant Yellow Rice[$5] ๐ข Sate Lilit Ikan [$26] 5 minced, spiced fish skewers ๐ Ayam Panggang [$30] grilled thigh pieces with lemongrass & tamarind sauce ๐ท Babi Guling [$30] roast pork with crackle, in a candlenut, lemongrass, ginger, and shrimp paste sauce The meat was insanely tender, juicy, full of flavor, and had that perfect crispy skin. ๐ We also tried the fish skewers and grilled chicken thighโboth super tasty in their own wayโbut the Babi Guling definitely stole the spotlight. So, so good. I get that some people might think the prices are a bit on the higher side, but honestly? It adds up. Thereโs so much tradition behind these dishes, and you can tell they go the extra mile sourcing all the right spices and ingredients. Itโs worth every cent ๐ You can tell this place is family-runโno shortcuts here. Everythingโs fresh, the portions are generous, and the quality is next level. Also, shoutout to the sauces! Each table comes with three, and we couldnโt stop asking for more sambal matah. That stuff is addictive!

This is the best Indonesian restaurant Iโve been to Australia. Super authentic. Lovely staff. Beautiful venue. I was transported back to Indonesia whilst eating the food The cassava crackers with the handmade peanut sauce was delicious. So thick and creamy. The nasi kuning was super flavoursome. The chicken in the ayam betutu just fell off the bone and had been cooked in the oven. Super fresh food Will be back to try the drinks and other dishes

What a cosy wonderful places for the fancy dinner. Serving great Bali dishes and the set up were nice and heartwarming. The staff recommended some good food and the spiciness definitely were something different . Ribs were pretty flavourful, taste great. Chicken were alright, sauce can go with the rice just by itself. In the end the dessert took a so long to serve, maybe I ordered something they didnโt prepared so make sure you ask about the time for the dessert.

Authentic Balinese cuisine at its best! The babi guling and pork ribs were absolutely divineโfelt like being transported back to Bali. Loved the generous servings of sambals, and the atmosphere and interior added to the experience perfectly!

As an Indonesian with a 'lidah manja', I dare to say that this is the best Indonesian restaurant I have ever been to outside of Indonesia. It was an amazing experience to see an Indonesian restaurant that is brave enough to dedicate themselves just to a single culture (apart from Minang with their Nasi Padang), so the food, service, and interior can be focused on that culture. Most, like 99.9% Indonesian restaurants abroad always want to sell everything, from Rawon, Soto, Betutu, to Rendang, and ended up being mediocre in all of them. But these guys in Warung Agus, they are strictly focused on Bali cuisine, and the quality is awesome! ๐คฉ A sidenote: Well, their sambals obviously lack of punchpower for real Indonesians like myself, but I guess that's the 'price' they need to pay to suit Australians' weaker palate.

Nice food and cozy restaurant. We ordered quite a few dishes and very happy of all of them. We even ordered second round that shows how much we enjoyed the food.

Really loved the experience. We didn't have a booking and yet they managed to get us a table. The taste of the food was so flavoursome and yummy. We tried yellow rice, chicken Maryland, vegan noodles, pork ribs, cocktails and casava chips.

We tried the Ayam Betutu, Original Nasi Campur, Ubi Goreng, Gado Gado and of course, their signature dish Babi Guling. Amazing flavours, and cooked to perfection. The crispy crackling and tender meat of the Babi Guling makes it a definite must try. If you haven't tried Balinese food, then you must head here! Super friendly and down to earth service too so you'll definitely enjoy your experience here.

Iโve never had such a great experience from a first time visit to a restaurant. We just happen to be in North Melbourne and our friend had been here years ago. My god! It was simply spectacular. It might mean I may never need to go to Bali after all but on the other hand now this family has given me a taste of their homeland. Anyway, the Gado Gado was unlike any Gado Gado Iโve had before. Our other dishes were the mei goreng and chicken skewers and the Padang pancakes for dessert. Weโve been back several times since and now always get the eggplant. Boy, that one is so full of flavour it makes my mouth water just writing about it. The decor is just lovely as well. So pretty. I actually want to go back now. Five massive big stars!

Flavour unparalleled. Fantastic service. Cozy and warming. Canโt wait to come back. Sticky ribs, fish parcels and fritters were ravishing! And so were the cocktails

Some of the most delicious food I've had in Melbourne. We ordered the potato, fritters, eggplant and the tasting platter, and every single dish was full of flavour! The sauce in the eggplant and tofu dish was incredible. They have a separate two-page vegan menu, so we had plenty of choices. The serving staff were really helpful and gave us lots of advice on what to order (which we largely followed, and weren't disappointed!). We'll be recommending this restaurant to everyone, and will be coming back again soon!

Only offering 3 types of set menus at the moment but well worth the price! Restaurant is super flexible with dietary preference we ended up with a mixed set menu of pork, chicken and fish dishes. Too much food is an understatement we ended up boxing up enough leftover for another mealโs worth. The staff are super attentive and friendly, vibe is warm and welcome. Taste is not 100% Balinese like you get in Bali but has got the essential spices that made me go yup thatโs Balinese. Definitely a good place to eat when youโre missing Bali!

First night out in a long time and honestly had the best experience, the staff were incredible the food was amazing too, the set menu was more then enough even had some left overs we took home. Drinks menu had plenty on it and all the flavours match with the food perfectly 10/10 across the board will definitely be going back. They also offer take away so if you can't get in for a feed, I recommend some take away.

Took such food care of us for my birthday even though we stayed so late. The cocktails were so cheap and yummy, the babi pork was what Iโve dreamed of since visiting Bali, the tamarind fish and everything else so flavourful. Generally a delight!

Finally made it to this vegan-friendly spot and it definitely met expectations. The dishes are all so interesting, including options such as avocado and mushrooms in coconut cream (sounds like overkill but itโs perfect) and fried tempeh coated in candlenut and turmeric. The real standout was the braised tofu and eggplant which came in the most delicious caramely sauce. Before ordering, note that the small serves arenโt huge so if youโre sharing, youโre better off going with the larger size.

I never had a chance to dine-in with a-la-carte menu but the set menu and their takeaway boxes were excellent. There is so much food so do come with empty stomach, might as well fast for 12 hours before you come. The food was wholesome, nothing pretentious, just authentic and flavoursome. Great and fun service too.

We've walked along errol and Victoria st many times during our explorations of North Melbourne and have always been curious about the crowds that flock to Warung Agus. Yesterday we tried this Balinese specialty restaurant and was pleasantly impressed. A small place that makes up for it in its bold flavours and strong characters of its food. Punchy recipes that use shrimp paste, chilli, spice and all things nice yet at the same time perfectly balanced. We tried the famous pork with crackling, spiced chicken, tempeh and sweet potato and the reputed yellow rice and all were fantastic. If I had to pick one to definitely try, it would be the Ayam Panggang (grilled chicken on the bone with sweet soy shallot sauce.)

Never ending array (and quantity!) of delightful Balinese dishes with the feed me menu! Be prepared for 2-3 hour eating experience if you are opting for feed me menu option.

It a lovely day to visit Warung Agus! That day the weather is rainy and I feel warm at Warung Agus. The ambiance is great with Balinese-style decoration. I ordered Babi Guling and it taste nice, especially with Kecap Manis (Sweet Soy Sauce). They are lovely and make my dinner experience feels wonderful! I definately will come back again really soon to eat more items at Warung Agus.

The best and most authentic Balinese food we ever had in Melbourne. Babi Guling and sate lilit are super delish. A bit pricey, but really worth it.

Came here with my 10 colleagues for Friday dinner and the place was almost packed. The staff were so friendly and they put Balinese music in the background which made the whole experience great. Ok, let's now talk about the foods. I ordered their ultimate experience dish which basically got me all the good stuff they had, namely pork crackling, pulled pork, 2 different types of satay (4 skewers in total), vegetables, and rice. The also gave us 2 different sambals. It was a great choice and my colleagues enjoyed them as well. If you are craving for Balinese cuisine, this place is very authentic and you won't get disappointed.
